Club History
We have been a club since 2016! In our time we have completed many projects, served many hours, and changed many lives! Here is a summary of all of our past projects.
- Socktember 2016: In September, we held a sock drive at our school! We collected over a hundred pairs of socks and donated them to a local shelter called Homeward Bound.
- Capes for Kids 2016: In one of our weekly meetings our members designed and created 25 capes with matching masks to donate to the Phoenix Children's Hospital.
- 9/11 Appreciation 2016: In September of 2016, our members painted and signed large manners of appreciation for both the Surprise Police Department and the Surprise Fire Department. We delivered the banner with 2 dozen donuts to each station and even got a meeting with the Police Officials!
- Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF 2016: In October of 2016, we all dressed up in our best costumes and hit the streets! We collected $250 for UNICEF by trick-or-treating door-to-door.
- Breast Cancer Car Wash 2016: Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we decided to host a car wash to collect money for the cause. At the local Culver's, we washed cars for 4 hours and collected over $600 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
- Red Ribbon Week 2016: Key Club brought drug abuse awareness to our school through Red Ribbon Week. We decorated our school, had activities and videos at lunch, and handed out bookmarks warning students to the realities of drug use.
- Winter Cards for Hospitalized Kids 2016: We teamed up with our school’s National Honor Society to make Winter Holiday Cards for the organization Cards for Hospitalized Kids! It was so fun listening to Christmas music and knowing we were making an impact!
- Gingerbread Houses 2016: As a fun Key Club competition, we had a meeting of which group could create the best gingerbread house. After the competition was complete, we donated all of our houses to the local Assisted Living Shelter to decorate their facilities.
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2017: Our members took part in the City of Surprise's Martin Luther King Jr. Day festivities. After an uplifting program, we headed to a local elementary school and spent the following hours cleaning and reorganizing their entire library!
- Valentine's Day 2017: Our members created stacks and stacks of Valentine's Day cards and posters, and we hung them all around our school to spread some love!
- PEC Carnival Booth 2017: At our elementary school's annual Carnival, our members ran the Teddy Bear Toss Booth and helped some little ones have some fun!
- Phonebooks 2017: In February, we hopped in the cars of our Kiwanians and helped deliver phonebooks around the Sun City area. We delivered over 2,000 phonebooks!
- Surprise Pride Day 2017: A couple of our members went out to show our city pride! We helped landscape in a local run-down neighborhood and saw our labor change the world right in front of our eyes!
- Dog Toys 2017: At one of our meetings, we braided together dog toys for the local AZ Small Dog Shelter. We created over 50 dog toys for the dogs to enjoy.
- Spring Activity Books 2017: Our members put together and colored activity books for Spring for the kiddos at the Phoenix Children's Hospital to create!
- Easter Egg Hunt 2017: We filled Easter Eggs with notes of kindness and some treats and hid them around our campus for our students to find! We were told by so many that it made their day.
- Teacher Appreciation Ice Cream Social 2017: To show our teacher appreciation, we hosted an ice cream social for the PHHS Staff! Our members served them up ice cream, toppings, and more sweets.
- Teacher Car Wash 2017: To show our appreciation for our teachers and promote our car wash occurring on November 18.
- Trick or Treat for UNICEF 2017: We walked around our neighboring community to gather donations for neonatal and prenatal tetanus!
- Lupus Car Wash 2017: We held our annual car wash at Culvers and raised funds for the Lupus Foundation!
- Dog Toys for AZ Small Dog Shelter 2017: Our members made dog toys using fabric to donate to teachers around campus and to the AZ Small Dog Shelter!
- 2017 Special Olympics-Soccer: We took a field trip to a local high school and put on soccer soccer matches for students with special needs. We had the opportunity to set up, ref, record, and cheer on the students!
- Ornaments for Assisted Living 2018: We made ornaments and decorations for Kingswood Assisted Living to help them with their decorations!
- Legacy Boxes 2018: We headed down to Kingswood Assisted Living and had the opportunity to interview residents to help out with the creation of their Legacy Box, a box filled with memories of their past.
- Divisional Citrus Picking 2018: We went citrus picking for St. Marys Food-bank and had the opportunity to have a bit of team bonding and meet members from other Key Clubs!
- Make A Wish Week 2018: We took part in our schools annual Wish Week by holding a fundraiser at Culver's and decorating hallways in support of the Make A Wish Foundation.
- SOUPer Bowl 2018: We held a canned food drive at our school for St. Marys Food-bank in lieu of the SuperBowl.
- District Regional Library 2018: We helped clean bookshelves at the Northwest Regional Library
- Steven Johnsons Syndrome: We decorated hats and sunglasses to donate to a local hospital to help patients with Steven Johnsons Syndrome.
- Applebee's Pancake Breakfast 2018: Our group sold tickets to an all you can eat Applebee's pancake breakfast to raise money for our club! We had a great time hosting, bussing, and waitressing tables.
- 2018 DCON: We had an amazing time learning about ways to improve our club and different community service opportunities by attending District Convention. We even had Nicole Inocentes represent our school as the first LTG!
- April 2018: We had a fundraiser at Culver's to raise money for our club to go to International Convention.
- May 2018: We had a Yogurtini fundraiser for our club to go to ICON. We also assigned our first summer mission to key clubbers which encouraged them to continue doing acts of community service over the summer.
- July 2018: We sent 2 of our members to ICON, including our very own LTG Nicole Inocentes. We also started our schools Builder's Club.
- September 2018: We made dog toys for a local animal shelter. We also made care packages for Blue Star Moms. We attended our first Foster Night at Cross Church. We participated in PHHS'S first ever Homecoming parade.
- October 2018: We participated in Trick or Treat for UNICEF #Kids Helping Kids. At the end of the month we celebrated Key Club Week. We held our annual Culver's car wash for the Governors project: Together We Rise.
- November 2018: Club officers and members attended Fall Rally!
- February 2019: We held our annual Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser. We also volunteered at the Divisionwide Service Project. We participated in World Down Syndrome Day as well.
- Make a Wish Week 2019: To show our club’s appreciation for the wish kids, we made some bags of happiness.
- March 2019: We helped out at Cross Church with their Foster Care Family Fun Fair. In club we made some dog toys for the local shelter. We also went to DCON and had so much fun interacting with Key Clubbers.
- DCON 2019: We went to DCON and won 2 awards. We won an award for having the most spirit and won another one for #1 Distinguished Club in the Diamond Division (clubs with more than 85 members).
- April 2019: This month was a very productive month. We went to help out at the Special Olympics and cheered out hearts out for the teams that were playing. We also helped out at Cross Church with their Respite Night. We were helping FCA by selling refreshments. Lastly we helped out teachers at our school by babysitting during the honors ceremony.
